Win or lose the deal at the buy.
Fast market read before you commit; intake that doesn't leave the box sitting for a month.
Offers get made on memory, and boxes sit afterward.
Someone puts a box in front of you and you have twenty minutes. Without a fast market check you either pad the offer to cover uncertainty and lose deals, or guess generously and find out later.
Then the box you did buy waits, because intake is a separate job nobody scheduled.
- Offers padded because the market read was too slow
- Collections bought above what they can clear
- Unprocessed boxes tying up cash
- Cards bought and never catalogued
What helps on the buy side
Pulltrader's Acquisition agent finds and evaluates collections, included from Business.
Recent sold comps
Comp search and eBay sold-listing lookup through Pulltrader, matched to catalog products rather than to listing titles.
Athlete demand context
PullScore, live stats, and athlete profiles for the name-driven part of the decision.
Know what the sale nets
Published channel rates mean you can work back from what a card would actually keep, not from its sticker price.
In-person submission
A supported intake path for cards acquired face to face, rather than a pile you deal with later.
Bulk upload
Get a whole acquisition catalogued as a batch instead of item by item.
Consignment as an alternative
When you cannot or should not fund a collection outright, consignment is a supported workflow with consignor tracking and payouts.
From box to catalogued
Triage is the technique that makes this tractable.
Split the collection
The items worth individual evaluation, and the bulk. Most of a collection's value sits in a small fraction of it.
Comp the top
Identify and check recent sales on the cards carrying the value, with condition noted honestly.
Work back from net
What it clears on the channel you would sell it on, after that channel's rate, is the number your offer should respect.
Bring it in
In-person submission or bulk upload, so the evaluation you just did turns into catalogued inventory.
Questions people ask
Is there a tool that values a whole collection for me?
Pulltrader’s Acquisition agent finds and evaluates collections, and is included from Business. Below that you get fast per-card comps and athlete context, which makes this a quicker manual process rather than an automated appraisal.
How should I think about what to offer?
Work back from net rather than from comps. A card that comps at $100 keeps you the full $100 on your own storefront or at the counter, and $91 to $95 on the marketplace after the 5%–9% seller-level fee. Those differences add up across a collection.
What about consignment instead of buying?
Often the right answer for a collection you cannot fund outright, and it is a fully supported workflow. Intake, consignor-attached inventory, and payouts run through Operations the same way owned inventory does.
Check the market before you name a number.
Better information at the buy is worth more than any optimization afterward.
